STORYLINE HUB

The STORYLINE HUB is where you get to enjoy authentic stories for young learners.

There are 63 stories based on interviews of real people from Romania, Spain and Portugal. The stories are aimed at readers who would like to practice their language skills in Romanian, Spanish, Portuguese and English.

Digital team

The Digitization team was responsible for bringing the stories to life.
After they were selected, we began to create a representative framework for each one.

Using the latest technology, we went out into the field in search of the elements that could contribute to setting up the scene.
For us, this attempt became so personal that during the process, we transposed ourselves into each story so that we had the opportunity to put ourselves in the shoes of the characters, to feel their emotion, pain or happiness.

We were impressed by each story and we want to convey to you the emotions we felt when we realized the spheres.

How it works:

Choose a language and a reading level (beginner, intermediate or advanced)

After reading the story, go to the online book and test your skills with a reading comprehension exercise

You may further exercise your language skills by trying out the EscapeStory Sphere game, featuring 12 of the stories that are available on the HUB

How it works: VR

Game rule for the VR headset-users: Follow the list of objects, they are written in the language you want to learn, collect all the objects on the list. Make sure your vocabulary is up to date.

Stories for Young Learners

This book features all the stories available on the HUB, together with a reading comprehension exercise at the end of each story. Moreover, there are 6 extra proposed activities for language learning (2 for speaking, 2 for writing and 2 for vocabulary and grammar practice) that can be used in class or in the workshop room by busy teachers and facilitators.

The book serves as a supporting tool for the HUB and the EscapeStory Sphere games, in order for them to be used efficiently and to their full educational potential. The book is especially useful for those that need the text printed, downloaded or for their e-book reading devices. The innovative aspect of this book is given by the captivating stories and the proposed activities that combine storytelling, language learning and non-formal methodologies.

“Books are a uniquely portable magic.”

STORYLINE is a project that aims to meet needs related to social harmony, mental health and literacy. The Covid-19 pandemic had significant effects over the way in which people interact, spend time and learn. We consider that it is very important to emphasize the hardships that other people, and especially elders, dealt with at some point in their lives. Moreover, we wanted to highlight the authentic human experience as a testimony of those who managed to overcome unfortunate events. The STORYLINE team believes that such genuine stories give other people hope, they spread empathy and a feeling of solidarity among societies.

The project not only promotes these real-life narratives and their impact but also gives them a second utility, that is learning languages. Therefore, STORYLINE is about discovering culture and heritage; offering the elders and the people that went through hard life experiences a voice; encouraging young people to communicate and to connect with those in need or with those that have worth-telling stories and last but not least, creating awareness about the past and the present in a digitalized, inclusive and creative manner.
